i'm a writer. other stuff too.
This April, I’m joining a cabin and I WILL finish Sanctity. I have about 15,000 words done. Basically, it’s a big outline. I don’t know if Camp NaNoWriMo is all about starting and finishing a single rough draft like it is in November, but for me, I need to stick with one idea and finish it.
Back in November, I hit 37,000 words with my first novel, As The Rain Fell. That was done for me. And so I continued the work into the next book in the series until I finally hit over 52,000 words by the end of November.
This April, I want to achieve a high level of focus and finesse. My goal is to hit 50,000 words (or have a completed draft) of Sanctity. If it happens before the end of the month, then I will either continue into the second book in the series or work on the entire work so I know exactly what happens. Or I will polish it. It’s a lofty goal, but I would love to have a piece of work that I can begin working on a query letter for and start submitting in May. I have already started compiling a list of agents I am interested in submitting to, based on their interests and current/past clients. Am I being too ambitious? I don’t think so. I truly believe that people who get to do what they desire deeply within their heart, are successful because they never gave up, and they gave it their all. 110%, as they say.
So cliche’s abound! No going back! Never surrender! Quitters never prosper! Stuff like that!
Maybe I should put all kinds of terribly overused sayings all over my wall, around my computer. Might be quite motivating.
Or it could infuse itself into my writing. So…maybe not.
I hope you’ll join me! And if you are doing it, let me know your username. I think we can friend each other or something cool like that. I like friends. Friending is cool.
